I was raised on a dairy farm in East Texas. At the age of 16 I began working construction on pipelines across the southern United States. I moved to Corpus Christi in 1971 and worked for several radio stations as "on air talent" while attending college. Upon graduation I began work as an Adult Probation Officer until I began law school in 1984.
Since becoming licensed to practice law, my focus has been in the areas of personal injury, social security, and family law. I have been a member of the Corpus Christi Bar Association since 1987 and have served in the past as Treasurer, Vice President, and President. Currently, I am the District 11 director for the State Bar of Texas.
I believe that contributing to the community is a responsibility shared by all. I am currently on the committee re-writing the By-Laws for the National Kidney Foundation. I have served on the local board for 17 years and at the national level for 6 years. My role as a youth mentor through a program established by the YMCA has given me the opportunity to provide guidance and companionship to the youth of our community and has taught me the importance of staying young--at least at heart.
